Paths and Decisions

Taking the first step is the hardest part. It determines the rest of the path that is going to follow. If you take a step in the wrong direction, your whole path will be wrong.
But what is to decide which direction is wrong? Which path leads to perdition?
Or do we define our paths along the way?
That being said, I guess then there is no wrong direction in which to set out on.
The only wrong decision would be to stay where you are.
Unless of course, you like where you are.
Then we would not be talking about paths and steps at all, would we?
