What do you suppose would happen if sex did not exist…
That all that is primal in nature, was simply – NOT.
That the most intimate form of pleasure
Was in the joining of ones soul with the other.
Suppose it was this joining – this connection
And only this
That was the means
And the only means
To intense physical satisfaction.
That a finger
Trailing down the side of your neck
Would cause maybe a tickle
Or a laugh
But no sensation of physical desire
Unless, of course
It was associated with the
Pleasure of the soul
To which that finger was attached.
That a hug
Were simply that –
A hug.
A friendly expression of joy
Or sympathy
Or greeting –
And nothing more.
Unless, of course
It was associated with the arms
And body
Of a soul-mate.
If an orgasm
Were to be achieved
By intensely staring into the eyes
Of the one you love.
Where rape were defined
As the snatching away of ones love
And was a crime
Punishable by
Intense loneliness.
Would you stay with the wrong person
In the same way
You are wont to do so now?
Would it be as easy to cheat
As it is now?
Would we ever settle
For anything less
Than perfect?
Would we so easily
Walk away from our love
For the sake of others?
Suppose
Just suppose
That lust was bound
Inextricably with love.
Would we hesitate
To tell the one we love
That we loved them?
Would it be as easy
To deny the feelings
That bloom inside
Ones heart?
Would we be as careless with
The ones we love
As we are so often now?
Knowing that killing their soul
Would kill all chances
To peak.
I want to live in a world
Where beauty does not imply lust.
Where sex is not as cheap as it is now.
Where love is not so easily tossed aside
I want to exist in a place
Where I can tell that you love me
From the feelings that arise
Within my soul
Simply
When you look my way.
